How to Grind Chicken Without a Meat Grinder
So, one night I was CRAVING some good old P.F. Chang’s chicken lettuce wraps. I was so happy to find some chicken in the back of my freezer. Except, it was not ground chicken. What’s a girl to do? Grind it up myself, I guess. I was worried that I might turn it into chicken paste though. So, after some online searching and tutorials, I found a method that works. I taught myself how to grind chicken without a meat grinder!

Homemade Ground Chicken
Equipment
Ingredients
- A food processor or a blender
- Raw chicken meat light or dark (We use chicken from Butcher Box.)
Instructions
- Using a sharp knife, cut the chicken into chunks.

- Place the entire sheet into the freezer for about 20-30 minutes. You want the chicken firm, but not frozen through.
- Put the chunks into a food processor or blender, in batches of about 10 at a time, and pulse them until chopped.
- Put the ground chicken into a large bowl and continue to process the other chunks until it is all chopped.

- Voila! You have ground your own meat without a meat grinder!

Hi, my name is Kate.
I love food. Real food. We eat all of the things that nursing school taught me were bad for you: butter, eggs, bacon, and raw milk.

Yes! Now I can make this: https://bzfd.it/1LxTDtr
I inquired with the meat market man once and he instructed that you grind your beef twice to get the consistence of the ground meat in the store. I have down this and it works. Time consuming, but works and handles beautifully
Thanks for the tip Leo! I will have to give that a try next time we are making something with ground beef.
Use a food processor, my blender started smoking! I was doing 5 lbs of it though.
Did you defrost the chicken all the way 1st though since it was frozen?
I like it partially frozen the best
Hello! I’m down to try your method to make some ground chicken. I’m taking a Foods class this year, but I’m doing online school. One of the things we’re making next week is a meatloaf, but I don’t have any ground meat at hand. I found some chicken in the freezer and I was wondering if you think this will work to make a really nice chicken meatloaf!
Definitely!
