All the flavors of a juicy burger without the bun! Instead, I made a burger salad and incorporated dill pickles, tomatoes, and even a burger sauce! Be sure to allow the cooked meat to cool a little before serving, or else it will wilt the lettuce.

Chef Tips:

  • If you are living a keto lifestyle, be sure to opt for high-fat ground beef, homemade mayonnaise, and cheese. Feel free to use lower fat versions of those items if calories concern you.
  • You can use any leaves you have at hand, but I like crunchy baby gem leaves.

Ingredients

Instructions

    1. Make a quick burger sauce by combining the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle juice, and paprika in a small bowl. Set aside.
    2. Heat the olive oil in a large non-stick pan or wok over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until softened. Add the ground beef and increase the heat to high. Cook until the beef has completely browned and cooked.
    3. Remove from the heat and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. If you want to up the flavor profile, add some dried onion flakes to the burger. Set aside for no longer than 10-15 minutes while you chop and grate the remaining ingredients.
    4. Arrange the gem lettuce leaves out on a large platter. Spoon on the cooked meat and add a spoonful of the burger sauce. Top with the grated cheese, sliced pickles, and halved tomatoes. Delicious!
