Chicken Apple Sausage Patties
Equipment
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1 cup finely diced apple, such as Honeycrisp or Fuji
- 2 Tbsp finely diced onion
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp dried sage
- ½ tsp dried thyme
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp sea salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ¼ tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, diced apple, onion, olive oil, sage, thyme, garlic powder, salt, pepper, cinnamon, and maple syrup.
- Mix gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the sausage tender.
- Divide the mixture and form into small patties, about 2 to 3 inches wide.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it if needed.
- Cook the patties for about 5 to 6 minutes per side, or until fully cooked through and golden brown on the outside.
- Remove from heat and let rest for a couple of minutes before serving.
Notes
Chef Tips:
- Dice the apple small – Smaller pieces blend better into the sausage and cook evenly, giving you flavor in every bite.
- Don’t overmix – Mix just until combined to keep the texture tender instead of dense.
- Test a small piece first – Cook a tiny portion of the mixture to taste and adjust seasoning before shaping all the patties.
- Keep the heat moderate – Cooking over medium heat prevents burning while allowing the inside to cook through evenly.
