Easy and Inexpensive DIY Toothpaste | Real Food RN

After reading this article on what really is in our toothpaste and how harmful it is (even though we have been using Tom’s brand for years), I decided it was time to start making my own DIY toothpaste and tooth powder. I’ve had a few recipes stashed away for a while and had even purchased the ingredients. What was holding me back?! Well, I finally made some and we are totally thrilled with the results. Bonus: it also remineralizes your teeth.

Materials

Instructions

  • Mix ingredients and put into a jar.
  • We each have our own jar because we dip our toothbrushes into the powder. Wet your toothbrush and dip it into the tooth powder and brush away. It’s just that easy.

You can find all of these ingredients at a co-op or Whole Foods. If you are having trouble finding the items, they can be ordered online. Click on the links I have provided below.

I also made a paste which was super easy to do….I added coconut oil to the tooth powder until I achieved the desired consistency….same recipe, same jar. My husband prefers paste to powder.

Everyone is happy, and our smiles show it!

  1. Lady, you inspire me. Thank you for this website and all of the information. I’ve been singing your praises to some friends who were wishing they could find a homeopathic MD. (We only have a homeopathic pediatrician around these parts.) While you’re not a doctor (as your disclaimer states) you are extremely helpful. Again, thank you.

  5. Wondering why you chose not to mix the EO brushing blend in with the coconut oil and powder blend to make a full service paste…..
