Pit and cut in half enough dates to cover an 8x8 parchment-lined bar pan.
Brown butter in a saucepan over low-medium heat. It’s ready when it’s light brown in color and smells like caramel. Takes about 10-15 minutes.
Pour over dates. Pop the pan into the freezer until it hardens.
Melt the coconut oil, stir in the cocoa powder, and pour over the caramel layer.
Sprinkle on chopped pecans and put into the freezer for another 5 minutes.
Cut into bars. Store in the freezer.
