2-Ingredient Cough Syrup
Kate
Soothe your cough naturally with this simple 2-ingredient syrup made from onion and honey. Easy, effective, and made right in your kitchen.
- 1 medium onion
- raw honey (enough to cover the onion)
Peel and thinly slice your onion into rings or small pieces.
Layer with honey.
Place a layer of onion slices in a clean glass jar, then drizzle honey over the top. Continue layering until the jar is filled. Cover the jar and let it sit at room temperature for a few hours, or overnight if possible.
As it sits, the onion will release its natural juices, blending with the honey to create a thin, syrupy liquid.
Strain (optional). You can strain out the onion pieces if you prefer a smoother syrup, or leave them in and scoop as needed.
Store in the fridge. Keep your syrup in a sealed container in the refrigerator. It will stay fresh for several weeks.
