Have you heard the legend of the Nieman Marcus Cookie Recipe? It’s a good one!
Apparently, as the story goes, a woman was eating lunch at Nieman Marcus and wanted a small dessert. She decided to indulge in the store’s famous cookie. She was so enamored by the cookie that she requested the recipe. The store clerk said she could not give the recipe away, but she could sell it for “two fifty”. I have never really been a fan of pie crust. Don’t get me wrong I still love the filling in the pie, but the crust was always left behind on my plate. I have to admit, I don’t really like pie. Well, I like the filling, but always left the crust. Now that we have gone grain free, the crust has become something entirely different that what I grew up eating. Paleo pie crusts are often times very dense, and filled with nuts. That’s all good, but the filling is still the best part.

Ah kid parties, typically a sugar fest filled with a blur of kids running around the party scene. We have hosted many of them. Every year I make a healthy spread that’s filled with vegetables, healthy fat, and high-quality meat. The kids don’t object because there is always the promise of cake at the end of the meal. When I was a kid, I loved cream cheese frosting. So much that if we had any around I could eat an entire batch in one sitting. No kidding! The problem was that we bought the frosting in the tubs from the inner aisles of the grocery store. Not such great ingredients in those. They are full of hydrogenated fats, artificial colors, and poor quality sweeteners. Then I had my first taste of real cream cheese frosting, homemade! So delicious.
